Plastics have to continuously focus on expanding applicational areas in order to maintain lead over the global GDP growth. The polymer scientists always look forward to develop newer applications. Some of the newer applications that we have come across recently are:

		Computer and electronic products have now found a newer material in the form of biodegradable polymers. This opens up another avenue for biodegradable polymer.
		Cyclic Olefin polymers are increasingly used for electronic, automotive and personal care products. One innovative application of COC polymer is for disposable insulin pens injection system that can be used by diabetic patients to safely inject insulin without aid from medical experts.

		More stringent purity requirement from the medical industry has encouraged the scientists at Victrex to develop the purest form of Victrex PEEK material for this application. The same pure Victrex finds usage in the semiconductor manufacturing.
