15 kinds of chemical substances including eight polymers have found their way into the European Commission's REACH blacklist.
DEHP, DBP & BBP (PVC and other polymer resin production phthalate plasticizers);HBCDD (flame retardants used in polystyrene production); MDA (used in the production of MDI polyurethane manufacturing); SCCPs (rubber, paint, sealants and adhesives production of flame retardants); TBTO (anti-fouling paints for ship production Fungicid).
The first batch of REACH blacklist stressed the importance of polymers and polymer products manufacturers to follow the implementation of REACH regulations. It will be prohibited to produce products containing more than 0.1% weight of "blacklist" substances. Consumers can directly ask the supplier or retailer for advisory information content of these substances, manufacturers or retailers in their turn need to give reply within 45 days.
