Inline skates employ DuPont's materials for toughness, low friction

08-Jan-09
Rollerblade, a pioneer of inline skating has adopted DuPont™ Delrin® acetal resin reinforced with DuPont™ Kevlar® aramid for its newly introduced high-end Point 8 aggressive inline skate's frame. According to DuPont, Delrin® was selected by Rollerblade due to its inherently low-friction surface that makes it ideal for aggressive skating techniques. In addition, Kevlar® reinforcement is tougher than steel and adds abrasion resistance for greater durability. Rollerblade's mid-range aggressive inline skate, the Downtown employs glass-reinforced DuPont™ Zytel® nylon which is injection molded for the skate frame, boosting stiffness and abrasion resistance.
