European extruder and marketer of plastic profiles to cut jobs due to low demand from Central and Eastern Europe

08-Jan-09
Wymar International NV, a European extruder and marketer of plastic profiles for construction sector and a subsidiary of Belgian international chemical company Tessenderlo Group, has announced to lay off 46 jobs at its Oeselgem plant in Belgium. The reason for the decision can be attributed to the structural macroeconomic downturn on the various markets where Wymar operates, combined with the negative impact of the financial crisis on the investment behaviour of end consumers (new-build and renovation). The company statement said that downturn was affecting its demand in the Central and Eastern European markets in particular. Wymar has operations in 20 countries on mainland Europe through its direct sales network (chiefly Benelux), its Profex (France), Wymar Hungary (Hungary, Slovakia) and Wymar Polska (Poland, the Baltic States, Belarus and Russia) subsidiaries or through exclusive distribution channels. Wymar International NV employ 170 staff.
