9% fall in Japan's naphtha imports for petrochemicals in May 2011 vs May 2010

Japan's naphtha imports for the petrochemical sector fell 9% in May 2011 vs from May 2010, as per Reuters. Imports of naphtha for ethylene production amounted to 1,619,287 kilolitres (1,115,771 tons) last month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry stated. That compared with 1,776,324 kl (1,237,633 tons) in May 2010 and 1,809,718 kl (1,247,203 tons) in April. May imports cost US$1,132,898,318, down from US$1,178,956,785 in April.
