Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem has corroborated an investment of US$614 mln to build a green polyethylene (PE) plant in the petrochemical complex planned in the city of Triunfo, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. The amount, equivalent to 1 bln reais will be invested over the next three years in the Triunfo petrochemical complex. The 200,000 tpa green polyethylene plant is estimated to require investment of 400-500 mln reais. The plant will use sugarcane-derived ethanol as raw material and is expected to start operations in 2010.
