Change on the cards for Indonesia's PTA industry

Indonesia has five major producers of purified terephthalic acid (PTA). Indonesia's PTA industry is poised for change. State-owned Pertamina, having PTA capacity of 275,000 tpa, has temporarily suspended its PTA related activities and is expected to shut down all facilities very shortly. Polyprima, another PTA producer, with 420,000 tpa capacity has been put up for sale by its creditors. India's Reliance Industries seems to be interested to acquire the debt-burdened PTA manufacturer.
