Global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals, Huntsman Corporation recently set underway the production of its high performance thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) grades at its Osnabrück-based facility in Germany. Huntsman's new TPU development is consistent with its global growth strategy and will fuel the increasing customer demand in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. TPUs, which combine the advantages of rubber polymers with those of thermoplastics, are increasingly displacing more traditional materials in a variety of end-use markets like footwear, wire and cable encapsulations, hose, tubing, films and sheet, coated and laminated textiles, functional coatings and adhesives.
