Independent Russian oil producer Lukoil has finally resumed production of ethylene and propylene at its Stavrolen complex after it shutdown post a devastating fire in December 2011, as per Europeanplasticnews. The company said the site restarted full manufacture of the plastics raw materials on 25 September, renewing local supply of the Stavrolen polyethylene and polypropylene plants.
Lukoil faced longer than expected delays in acquiring and installing foreign supplied replacement plant equipment following the €20 mln blaze in the site’s ethylene plant nearly a year ago. Lukoil announced it has completed all repair and renewal work at the ethylene unit following the fire and also carried out scheduled repairs on the PE production facility. Shipments of PP and PE products were expected to resume on a regular basis in the first week of October 2012.
