Japan’s Nippon Oil Corporation (NOC) plans to down the shutters for 40 days at its Kawasaki benzene plant later this month. As the 96,000 tpa benzene plant shuts down for a routine turnaround Asian benzene supply could get squeezed, in the absence of spot cargoes for supply during the 40 days.
The company has been operating the same plant at 20% reduced capacity for about two months, and has thus had to curb exports of spot benzene cargoes throughout June.
