RTP Company's Sheet & Film division expands

28-Feb-09
US-based engineered thermoplastic compounder RTP Company has announced that its Sheet & Film Division subsidiary Wiman Corporation has purchased the Dupo, Ill., extrusion operation of OMNOVA Solutions. As part of this expansion Wiman will retain all current personnel and equipment at the 40,000 sq. ft. (3,715 m2) facility. In addition, Wiman plans to maintain a supplier relationship with OMNOVA ensuring continued availability of products currently produced at the facility. This is the first acquisition for Wiman, which is based in Sauk Rapids, Minn., since being acquired by RTP Company in 2006. "The acquisition of this facility expands Wiman's capabilities, capacity and geographic presence allowing us to better meet the needs of our customers," said Peter Ploumidis, President of RTP Company's Sheet and Film Division. "In particular, the Dupo operation will expand Wiman's medical and industrial film product lines to be available down to one mil thick, which allows us to offer our wide variety of films in any gauge." Hugh Miller, President & CEO of RTP Company commented, "We foresee continued growth in demand for customized film and rollstock products that nicely complements our engineered thermoplastic compounds business."
