Sinopec's Maoming refinery has resumed ethylene production at 40% of capacity. The 640,000 tpa ethylene facility has been shut for two weeks due to a fire indirectly caused by lightning shocks. A smaller ethylene unit with 380,000 tpa capacity restarted two days after the fire on June 3. Maoming is Sinopec's second largest refinery. Its first plant with 1 mln tpa ethylene capacity churns out 10% of China's annual ethylene output.
