Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. selects UOP to upgrade Ruwais refinery

UOP LLC, a fully owned subsidiary of Honeywell International and headquartered in Illinois has been opted by Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. for supplying technology and engineering services for upgradation at 120,000 bpd Ruwais refinery in the UAE. The preliminary engineering design is under way and is slated to be fully realized in 2014. The value of the project is not disclosed. The Ruwais refinery will be capable of producing propylene, unleaded gasoline, naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas, aviation turbine fuel, kerosine, gas-oil, bunker fuel, and other hydrocarbon derivatives. Among other processes, the refinery will house a UOP's naphtha hydrotreating process at its hydrotreating unit.
