Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, had recently announced its plans to build a new 7000 mtpa Vectra(R) liquid crystal polymer (LCP) production facility co-located at the Celanese integrated chemical complex in Nanjing, China. The facility-Ticona's fourth in Nanjing complex-is slated to be operational in 2010 and the construction will take off in H1 2009. The company already produces Celstran(R) long fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) and GUR(R) ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) at the Nanjing complex while a compounding unit is scheduled to be operational in early 2009.
The new Vectra facility is consistent with Ticona's Asia growth strategy to directly serve our customers in Asian region of impressive growth. The company wishes to leverage its resources at Nanjing and network of technical and sales support in China to accelerate serving customers in and around China.
