Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract, along with China Petroleum Material and Equipment (Group) Corporation (a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation) for the basic engineering design and supply of certain equipment for a new polypropylene plant at the PetroChina GuangXi Petrochemical Company complex in GuangXi Province, People's Republic of China. Aker Kvaerner is providing the basic engineering design, together with certain offshore equipment, for the new Polypropylene plant that will have a capacity of 200,000 tpa. Plant start-up is expected in 2008.
The project will utilise the Dow Chemical Company UNIPOL polypropylene technology, one of the core technologies in the Aker Kvaerner process portfolio.
