Effective August 1, 2009, India-based Samvardhana Motherson Group will rename recently acquired Visiocorp (Germany) which will operate under the name SMR (Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec). This will complete the March 6, 2009 acquisition of Visiocorp Group's production and development facilities by the largest automotive rearview mirror manufacturers in India. Visiocorp Group supplies exterior mirrors, interior mirrors and blind spot detection systems for all passenger vehicle segments and nearly every carmaker in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The group's 16 manufacturing plants are specialized in polymer processing, the manufacturing of electrical components, automated painting and the assembly of complete systems.
"Reflectec" communicates the company's core competency and technology leadership: innovative mirror systems for the automobile industry. The change of name will be carried out officially at all 16 global locations effective August 1, 2009. Samvardhana Motherson Group has a diversified product range to serve multiple industries, with automotive industry being the main industry served. The Group business portfolio comprises electrical distribution systems (wiring harnesses), automotive rearview mirrors, polymer processing, injection molding tools, elastomer processing, modules and systems, among many other areas.
