Eastman unveils non-phthalate plasticizer in Europe for PVC plastisols

Eastman Chemical Company recently announced the EU launch of its new, high solvating, non-phthalate plasticizer, Eastman™ DBT. Eastman™ DBT is particularly suitable for use in PVC plastisols and water-based adhesive applications. Eastman™ DBT has already received clearance by the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for use in certain food-contact applications (Food Contact Notification No. 597). With traditional fast fusing phthalate plasticizers undergoing reclassification, increased regulatory pressure or discontinuation in Europe, Eastman™ DBT provides PVC processors with a new, high solvating, low viscosity plasticizer solution, and in water-based adhesives, a drop-in alternative to traditional plasticizers, with no warning label or risk phrase requirements.
