BASF to sell minority interest in Geismar cracker

BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany) plans to sell its minority stake in the 610,000 tpa cracker at Geismar, Louisiana, USA to one of the other partners, Williams Olefins. GE Petrochemicals, the third partner, will retain its stake. BASF had acquired this share in 1970 with its acquisition of the US Wyandotte Chemicals group. PetroLogistics will buy BASF's share of the associated pipeline and storage facilities.
