Confirmation is awaited from Sabic about its plans to partner Sinopec in a joint venture for a US$1 bn petrochemical complex at Tianjin. Sinopec subsidiary Tianjin Petrochemical (TPC) embarked upon construction of the complex in June 2006, estimated to have a 1 mln tpa capacity ethylene unit. The ethylene unit is scheduled to be completed in September 2009. The TPC project will also include LDPE and HDPE units each with a 300,000 tpa capacity.
