Bemis to develop renewably resourced flexible films

14-Nov-07
Bemis Company, Inc. plans to develop and sell renewably resourced flexible films in the Americas using patented Plantic® technology along with Australian company Plantic Technologies Ltd. Targeted applications for the new films will include flexible packaging for personal care and dry goods. Plantic specializes in starch-based biopolymers developed using high-amylose corn starch for use as a component of or as a stand-alone structure in flexible packaging products. These films fulfill the need of film manufacturers - sustainability without a compromise on convenience and safety offered by current packaging. The agreement also enhances existing efforts by the Bemis Company to provide sustainable solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of packaging materials by increasing in-plant processing speeds, reducing packaging bulk, reducing shipping weight, improving efficiency throughout the distribution system, and ensuring food safety.
