Bharat Oman Refinery Ltd to expand capacity of Bina refinery

27-Oct-09
Government of Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has said that the Bharat Oman Refinery Ltd. (BORL) had decided to expand the capacity of the awaited Bina refinery from the existing 6 mln tpa to 9-12 mln tpa. This decision to upgrade production capacity has led the state cabinet to the decision to allow BORL to trade the naphtha. About 2.4 mln tpa of low aromatic naphtha will be a by-product of the project. The state government has decided to allow BORL to use naphtha as feedstock for downstream projects to crystallize adjacent to the refinery. The MP state government initially explored the idea of establishing a SME-based complex near the refinery which is being constructed at Agasod village by selling low aromatic naphtha. After receiving lukewarm response from fertiliser and power companies, the government tried to explore possibility to set up a power plant.
