BOPP film has reported the fastest growth in terms of demand in the past few years in China. Quality considerations and comparatively low production cost could be the factors responsible for BOPP winning market share among bi-directional tensile film products. With quality function-price ratio, BOPP has more advantages in competition with BOPET, BOPA and BOPS.
Bi-directional tensile film is not only replacing traditional paper packaging, but is also replacing such ordinary packing film as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyvinyl chloride. China is capable of producing 900,000 tpa of bi-directional polypropylene film, but due to sharp increases in production capacities, the market has become saturated, and demand has slowed in recent years. China currently produces BOPP film, CPP and ordinary polypropylene packaging film.
