To meet booming demand from China and other Asian countries, Albemarle Corp. has planned expansion in China. Albemarle is to acquire land in China for the construction of a technology center, a repackaging facility and future production centers for various polymer additives including basic flame retardant technical service.
Set to commence its initial activities at the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park, Albemarle is to set up a complete flexible polyurethane foam flame retardant testing lab and polymer testing capability for Albemarle's ALBlend additive blend systems is to feature. Albemarle has also signed definitive agreements to form another joint venture- 'Shanghai Jinhai Albemarle Fine Chemicals Co. Ltd.' for the production and marketing of polymer stabilizers and its intermediates. This new joint venture company is regarded as a sister company to Albemarle's existing joint venture company, 'Ningbo Jinhai Albemarle Chemical and Industry Co. Ltd.'
