Latin America's largest petrochemicals company - Braskem, is mulling the option of a second plant to produce polyethylene from sugar cane-based ethanol, upon completion of the first plant start up around October at the Triunfo plant. A second plant could be considered based upon interest evinced by processors in green plastic. Braskem is studying possible locations for a second plant, including real estate in the center-south's sugar cane heartland to have ready access to the feedstock ethanol.
