Centre has suggested setting up a joint committee involving senior officials from Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and State Government for preparing a roadmap for implementation of the petrochemical complex at Paradip, as per www.newindianexpress.com. The committee will also study funding options for the petrochemical project, including joint venture route.
Official sources said the refinery project has achieved overall physical progress of 97%, with commissioning of the project to commence from December 2014 in phases. The IOCL board has approved a polypropylene (PP) unit with a capacity of 700000 tpa. The project is scheduled for completion in 42 months from the date of approval and the unit is likely to be commissioned during 2017-18.
