Changes in procedures related to customs clearance and delivery of cargo in Brazil

12-Jun-13
Normative Instruction from Federal Revenue of Brazil No. 1.356/2013 has launched a new Customs regulation. With immediate effect, the procedure related to Customs Clearance and delivery of the Cargo is exempting the Importers (Consignee) of presenting the Original Bill of Lading for releasing the shipment. In view of new customs regulation, it is to be noted that “Carrier’s liability ceases after discharge of goods into Customs custody and Carrier shall not be responsible for delivery of cargo without the presentation of the Original Bill of Lading, as per Brazilian Customs Regulations”
