Dow sells its South African plastics division

The plastics division of Sentrachem, a wholly-owned affiliate of Dow Chemicals is to be acquired by the end of the year by a consortium led by Ravago, through its local affiliate, Plastomark. Plastomark is currently the distributor for the division. Sentrachem is a South Africa-based company. Sentrachem's plastics division, was set up in 1972 as a joint venture between Sentrachem and Hoechst, manufactures, markets and sells polypropylene and high density polyethylene. Dow took ownership when it acquired the Sentrachem business in 1997.
