PlastIndia 2006 Exhibition and Conference were inaugurated on 9th Feb,06. The exhibition is the world's second largest such event in the plastic industry. Spread over an area of 76,000 square meter, and includes 300 foreign exhibitors from 30 countries. The six-day long conference has about 1,300 participants.
Speaking on the occasion, PlastIndia President Mahesh Shah sought incentives including tax reduction for boosting domestic production and exports. "The total tax burden comes to about 30 per cent compared to 17 per cent in China", Shah said., President of Reliance Industries' cracker and polymer division, Kamal Nanavaty, projected growth in domestic consumption in the next five years to 12 million tonne per annum from 4.5 MTPA at present..
