Dow plans to implement a second polyethylene increase in Latin America in April, with customers set to see a 4 cents/lb (US$88/mt) hike during the second half of the month in addition to a 5-cent (US$110/mt) increase that went into effect at the start of April, as per company source in Platts. The increase on PE grades will be in effect in the Andean region effective April 15. Andean countries covered by the proposed increase include Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. The rest of Latin America including Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean will see increases later this month, the source said. "The increase will be in addition to the 5 cents/lb (US$110/mt) that we implemented on April 1 in all of Latin America." Dow earlier announced that in Latin America it would implement a 5 cents/lb increase on all PE grades sold, effective April 1.
