Dow to shut Spain-based PS plant in Q3

As a result of shrinking margins and low demand for polystyrene (PS) in Europe, The Dow Chemical Company announced to permanently close its polystyrene plant in Bilbao, Spain, during the third quarter of 2009. Peter Whitmore, Business Director for Styrenics said, "Dow will increase the operating rates of Dow's remaining European polystyrene plants to maximize the continuity and quality of supply to the customers."
