As part of a new channel management strategy to position for growth after the current economic downturn, DuPont Engineering Polymers has planned changes to its North American-based distribution network. Effective immediately, PolyOne Distribution will become the primary distributor of thermoplastic products in North America with additional regional distribution available in Mexico and Canada. Following a 90-day transition period, Ashland Distribution will no longer supply DuPont Engineering Polymers thermoplastic products in North America.
"Customers have asked for multiple, distinct channels to quickly access our products and technical expertise at the lowest delivered cost," said Keith J. Smith, vice president and general manager -- DuPont Engineering Polymers. "Among those multiple channels is distribution, which is now consolidated to one primary partner in North America that is closely aligned with our business, offering customer service and development support from concept through commercial adoption. PolyOne is also aligned with many of our growth markets, including consumer goods, healthcare, building and construction, electrical and electronics, industrial and automotive." "We welcome this enhanced strategic alignment with DuPont Engineering Polymers," said Michael L. Rademacher, senior vice president and general manager -- PolyOne Distribution. "The strength of DuPont Engineering Polymers' product brands and its market reach complements our existing portfolio of high-performance materials and services and furthers our ability to help customers meet the challenges they face in today's current economic environment. Moreover, our extensive network and infrastructure are ideally aligned to provide uninterrupted supply and superior customer service."
