25-Aug-08
DuPont has revitalized operations at its Kinston plant in North Carolina with DuPont™ Sorona®, a renewably sourced polymer that now is being produced at the site- in operation for the past 55 years. The Sorona® renewably sourced polymer project has breathed new life into the plan. The Kinston plant will play a key role in helping DuPont meet the demand for rapidly growing bio-based, sustainable products. Sorona® polymer first was commercially produced at the Kinston site in September 2000. In November 2005, DuPont announced the expansion of its Sorona® polymer production operations at Kinston. The Sorona® capacity expansion project was initiated in April 2007. In July 2007, DuPont began production of Sorona® renewably sourced polymer at Kinston, when it introduced Bio-PDO™ to the polymer production process.
