DuPont's first Asian ethylene copolymer facility goes on stream

DuPont has opened its first packaging and industrial polymers ethylene copolymer facility in Asia Pacific. The company's Packaging & Industrial Polymers (P&IP) division will now produce Bynel and Fusabond adhesive resins at a new plant in Shenzen, China. The new facilities in China are part of the company's business growth plan and represent the continued commitment of DuPont to the market of adhesive resins. The company's Packaging & Industrial Polymers (P&IP) is among the fastest growing areas of the Chinese polymer industry. Bynel and Fusabond adhesive resins are speciality products designed for use across a wide range of packaging and industrial applications including building panels, pipe coating, flexible packaging and polymer modification. Besides packaging, polymer modification is among the fastest growing areas of the Chinese polymer industry. Globally, flexible packaging is experiencing explosive growth and is overtaking traditional rivals metal, paperboard and glass by virtue of its superior light weight and lower cost. Over 75% of packagers worldwide already use flexible and with growth rate is forecast at over 2.4%pa over the next 5 years.
