The consortium of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Co (PEDEC) in co-operation with Italian company Technimont has been awarded the EPCC contract to build a low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant by Kordestan Petrochemical Company. The contract covers grant of license, basic and detailed engineering, supply of equipment and materials, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning start up and performance tests. The value of the contract is estimated at Euro 218 million, which is to be commissioned in a 38-month period.
The plant, based on Basell Polyolefin LUPOTECH Technology, will produce 300,000 tpa of LDPE and 30,000 of Butene-1 for domestic consumption as well as exports. Water, electricity and steam needed by the plant are to be supplied by the Kordestan Petrochemicals Co itself. A pipeline is to supply the feedstock- 315,000 tpa ethylene to the plant from the by the 11th Olefin Plant located in Assaluyeh, in Hormozgan Province.
