Equipment failure leads Dow Ethylene Cracker to shut down in Texas

Dow may face a temporary shut down of its ethylene cracker operating in The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas. This is probably because it faced a significant equipment failure on Sunday, 26 June. It will shutdown this plant for an estimated period of three to five weeks during which it has conceded to work diligently towards repairing this cracker and restoring its production to pre- incident levels. Dow that has an annual sale of about $40 billion, serves customers in about 175 countries and a wide range of markets that are vital to human progress.
