EU approval for ethylene pipeline

25-Oct-06
Marked improvement has been seen in the outlook for the projected 375 km ethylene pipeline from Ludwigshafen to Münchsmünster, Germany - connecting petrochemical sites in Gendorf and Burghausen to the ARG network. Members of the EPS Ethylene Pipeline Süd consortium are BASF, Borealis, Clariant, OMV, Ruhr Oel, Vinnolit and Wacker-Chemie. Authorities in European Union authorities have granted approval to the project, after the state of Bavaria agreed to reduce the subsidy from 50% to around 30% of the investment sum. In absolute terms this amounts to just under EUR 45 mln.
