As part of its' global compounding strategy and commitment to provide engineered thermoplastic materials to the automotive and consumer products industries, ExxonMobil Chemical plans to build a new facility at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, complex to produce specialty compounded products. Construction is expected to begin in October 2006, and the new facility is expected to start-up in Q2-2007
The Baton Rouge plant will manufacture a wide gamut of commercial compounded products including ExxonMobil Chemical's Performance Polyolefin grades (compounded polypropylene), Santoprene(TM) thermoplastic elastomers and other specialty elastomers.
