An explosion occurred at a petrochemical plant in the city of Rizhao, Shandong province. Fire fighters battled a massive blaze following the explosion that occurred as tanks containing liquefied hydrocarbon leaked at the plant.
A total of 774 fire fighters, 118 fire trucks, four remote water-supply systems and 224 tonnes of extinguishing foam have been prepared for a final attack on the inferno, as per Chinese news agency Xinhua. No casualties have been reported so far.
