Foster Wheeler awarded contracts by for 390,000 tpa PO plant in Thailand

Foster Wheeler Ltd. subsidiary Foster Wheeler International Corp. (Thailand branch) has been awarded contracts by MTP HPPO Manufacturing Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Siam Styrene Monomer Co Ltd., a joint venture between The Dow Chemical Company and Siam Cement Group. Foster Wheeler will perform the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) for a new 390,000 tpa propylene oxide (PO) facility and for the Power, Utilities and Infrastructure (PUI) Project, which will serve the new chemicals facilities. Foster Wheeler's Thailand operation has already completed the front-end design for the PUI Project. Further, Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract for overall services support. The Foster Wheeler contract value for the contracts, which was included in the company's third-quarter 2008 bookings, was not disclosed. The PO plant is expected to come online in 2011. PO is a chemical intermediate used in the production of raw materials for a wide range of industrial and commercial products, including polyurethanes, propylene glycol, and glycol ethers.
