Foster Wheeler awarded EPCM contracts for PO facility in Thailand

Foster Wheeler Ltd. subsidiary Foster Wheeler International Corporation (Thailand branch), has been awarded contracts by MTP HPPO Manufacturing Company Limited, (a subsidiary of Siam Styrene Monomer Company Limited) This is a joint venture between The Dow Chemical Company ("Dow") and Siam Cement Group ("SCG"), relating to a new 390,000 tpa propylene oxide (PO) facility at Banchang, near Map Ta Phut in Thailand. Foster Wheeler will perform the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) for the PO facility and for the Power, Utilities and Infrastructure (PUI) Project, which will serve the new chemicals facilities. Foster Wheeler's Thailand operation has already completed the front-end design for the PUI Project. Further, Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract for overall services support. The PO plant is expected to come online in 2011. PO is a chemical intermediate used in the production of raw materials for a wide range of industrial and commercial products, including polyurethanes, propylene glycol, and glycol ethers.
