China, eager to attract FDI in its petrochemicals sector has been keen to invite experts in the field as a partner. India's state-run GAIL (India) Ltd is exploring the possibility of a joint venture with China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (SNP) to set up a petrochemicals unit in China. GAIL seems to be interested in pursuing a petrochemicals JV with an estimated capacity of 500,000 metric tons of petrochemicals.
