Indonesia's petrochem plants reduce operating levels as prices rise

The Indonesian government has decided to double the prices of industrial diesel oil pushing up the production cost of many industries. Two petrochemical plants in Indonesia- Styrindo Mono Indonesia and Asahimas have been forced to slow down operation due to increasing production costs. Styrindo Mono Indonesia produces styrene, and has an annual capacity of 300,000 tons and Asahimas produces 400,000 tons per annum of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and 285,000 tons of PVC.
