GS Caltex’s oil refinery at Yeosu shut after power failure

South Korea’s No. 2 oil refiner GS Caltex Corp.’s oil refinery at Yeosu Industrial Complex remains shut after a power failure, as per Bloomberg. The shutdown includes most plants, including all crude distillation units. GS Caltex has four distillation units in Yeosu with a total capacity of 750,000 bpd. The complex lost power, 20 minutes after which electricity supply was restored. The Yeosu complex includes plants of about 30 oil and petrochemical companies including GS Caltex, LG Chem Ltd., Yeochun NCC Co. and Honam Petrochemical Corp. Naphtha crackers owned by LG Chem and Honam Petrochemicals were little affected and are operating normally.
