South Korean Hanwha Total Petrochemical Co Ltd’s naphtha cracker remains offline for maintenance and its operations are unaffected by the company’s ongoing labour strike, a company spokesman has been reported to have said by Reuters.
The company’s 1 mln tpa cracker Daesan has been shut since late March for maintenance and is expected to resume operations in June at the earliest, the company spokesman said. The company’s labour union has gone on an all-out strike since April 25 over wages, but unless the strike extends, it would not affect the cracker’s restart. The cracker’s capacity will be boosted by at least 30% to 1.31 mln tpa after the maintenance.
