Honam Petrochemical Corp. plans to expand its compounding capacity in China and also add long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite manufacturing in the United States, as part of a push to bring newly developed fiber and nanocomposite plastics to global markets, as per PlasticsNews.com.
In 2012, Honam will add 50,000 tons of compounding capacity at its factory in Hefei, Anhui Province, ramping capacity to 70,000 tons. Manufacturing of long-fiber LFT composite plastics will come on-stream in January 2012 at a new factory in Auburn with capacity of 3,000 metric tons. Capacity is planned to be expanded to 15,000 tons at the Alabama plant by 2013.
Honam is also considering adding compounding capacity in the United States, Europe and Malaysia.
