Huge demand for biodegradable materials to grow in China

At present, demand for biodegradable materials is huge both in China as well as globally. The quantity needed in China’s packing and catering industry alone totals more than 3 mln tons. The international market demands even more, with a 30-50% y-o-y increase. China’s domestic demand in 2010 is expected to reach 13.437 mln with a total market value of over 150 bln, and about 20 mln ton globally. Recent years, the biodegradable industry has witnessed rapid developments. National policies are made to escalate the industry to a high-end one, which would hopefully be the key areas in biodegradable and abosorbable material industry by 2015.
