Ten of Huntsmans' petrochem plants in Texas suspended operations on Thursday as Hurricane Rita headed for the Texas and Louisiana border. 6 of Huntsman's of these plants are expected to be operational again within the next 72 hours.
A detailed assessment of the other four facilities will be needed before they are reopened, as the eye of the storm went right over operations in Jefferson County. Some flooding was also reported at the Port Arthur facility. A preliminary examination found no serious structural damage to any of the facilities themselves and Jefferson County operations are expected to be operational in 2-3 days.
