SABIC affiliate Arabian Industrial Fibers Co (Ibn Rushd) has inked contracts with Taiwan's CTCI and China's Sinopec Engineering for capacity expansion. The contract with CTCI would more than double Ibn Rushd's aromatics production capacity to 1.2 mln tpa from 560,000 tpa and more than double its terephthalic acid capacity to 750,000 tpa. The contract with Sinopec Engineering has been inked for a new polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant as well as expansion of capacity 750,000 tpa from 330,000 tpa. The projects will take between 24 and 27 months for completion.
