IENOS procures US and Canadian PS business of BASF

INEOS Americas, a North American subsidiary of INEOS (Lyndhurst, UK) is considered to have acquired BASF's polystyrene (PS) business with a total capacity of about 385,000 metric tpa. The transaction of this facility situated in the US is believed to be approved by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The sale involves the transfer of a production facility and about 140 employees, including managerial, sales and marketing persons from Joliet, Illinois to IENOS. The Joliet polystyrene (PS) facility that is now sold to INEOS produces general-purpose polystyrene and high-impact polystyrene, while INEOS is a global manufacturer of specialty and intermediate chemicals and polymers made up of seven businesses. This facility will be an addition to the 43 manufacturing facilities that IENOS has in 14 countries.
