Japan’s August imports of petrochem naphtha dips by 3% yoy

Naphtha imports for the petrochemical sector fell 3% in Japan in August 2010, as compared to August 2009. Imports of naphtha for ethylene production amounted to 1,928,052 kilolitres (1,337,242 tons) in August 2010 as per the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as compared with 1,979,648 kilolitres (1,355,328 tons) in August 2009, and 1,993,714 kl (1,386,687 tons) in July 2010. Per ton naphtha import prices in US dollars in Aug 2010 were US$664.3, US$600 in August 2009 and US$677.4 in July 2010 .
